Get to Know You!

As a senior, I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly of college. I don't regret many decisions that I've made, because they helped shape me into who I am today, but I wish I would have had an older girl to guide me through the many seasons and stages of life that college brings. My hope for this blog is that I will be able to do just that.

The months before college can bring a lot of excitement, usually mixed with a healthy amount of fear. Up to this point, you have most likely only lived with your family, in your hometown, with your school friends, and that one pizza restaurant that you might miss more than all those other things combined. Thinking about moving to an unfamiliar city and living in a dorm room the size of a shoebox with another girl you met on instagram can be really scary, but don't let this fear keep you from so much excitement.

There are so many new things in college. New school, new people, new places, and new opportunities. You will probably say "Nice to meet you!" 700 times a day and you will probably be caught in a whirlwind of confusion and comparison. With this in mind, before you get to know all of those things, get to know you. When you approach change with a strong confidence in who you are, you are less likely to waver in times of stress and uncertainty.

If you don't know who you are, take a closer look at what God says about you: you are loved and above all else you are His child! Psalm 139: 14 says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made". Maybe people from high school made you feel like you aren't worthy, but I am telling you that the God of the universe says that you are. If you know your worth, you can be confident through any season because your identity is secure in Him.
