What Do You Want to be When You Grow Up?

In college, it is easy to get wrapped up in the social and extracurricular aspects, and to forget about the reason you're there... school. Choosing a major when you are still 18 years old and don't have a clue what you want to do with your life can be challenging and confusing. There are a lot of people giving input on what you should major in and the classes you should take. It is easy to let other people take the reins, but I encourage you to do what makes you happy.

You may have gone into college super excited about your major and all of the opportunities that come with it, but that doesn't always work out the way you want it to. You may discover that you aren't very interested in that field and there is something else that suits yo
u better, and that is okay. As a senior in college, most of the people I know have changed their major at least once.

Once you are set in your major and you get a little older, there comes the daunting question: "What are you going to do when you graduate?". For some people, this is an easy question because they have known exactly what they want to do since they begun to speak. Although this is scary to hear, this is definitely not the case for everyone. The best part about education is learning what you personally want to do and what you personally are good at. This is what makes you unique!

Many people don't figure out a job until later during their senior year, and even then they still might be confused about what they want to do. Confide in your professors and older friends, they will tell you that no one has it all figured out and things can change in the blink of an eye. It is perfectly normal to still be figuring it all out. Allow yourself time to learn what you like and don't like, and keep an open mind towards any possibility, because you never know where you might end up.
